Ella’s Visit: One of Our Favorite Summer Traditions

DSCN0745

In a tradition that began last year and that we hope continues for years to come, we have been lucky enough to “host” Remy and Elijah’s cousin Ella. She fits so easily into our family, and is such a helpful, loving, fun, positive child: a truly great role model for any kid! Our kids love hanging out together, going to the pool, doing science experiments,

creating their own games (several of which involve using every toy in the entire house), and reading (on this trip, it was the first Harry Potter. Along with reading, they also made magic wands and spell books.)

We also took several special outings, including a trip to the PMA (only Remy had ever been before). It was a great time to visit because ArtSplash was in full effect with a sort of treasure hunt for artifacts and art as well as activities in the exhibits and a make-and-decorate-your-own passport station.

The next day we checked out the new exhibits in the new wing at the Franklin Institute, including the area on the brain (which included a cool climbing area in the dark as well as a bunch of hands-on activities) and the circus.

Now you do-kinda gross, huh?)

The following morning we went to the zoo. Our budding photographers Elijah and Ella were totally snap-happy.

Joe even played hooky (shh!) and came to hang out with us!

Hello Mr. Tiger! All the big cats seemed to love their new view of the zoo.

Ella took the preceding 2 pictures. That girl definitely has a creative streak a mile wide. She loves drawing, creating, and is constantly inquiring and exploring. I just love her passion for artistic and musical pursuits!

And here are two from the Bean:

We also managed to do what we do best, which is find yummy treats! Including, but not limited to, Lil’ Pop Shop

and our inaugural visit to the Night Market, which was so cool.

The kids loved the food trucks, dancing to music, taking pictures with giant snakes,

We loved having Ella come and stay and are already looking forward to next year!

These pics are from the weekend prior to Ella’s visit at the Pennsylvania Dutch festival:

There is no "trick" perspective in this photo. The chick was really that close to Remy's mouth.

Our kids are totally pulling for us to move to a farm...until they realize how hard we would all be working!
